CLASSIC MARBLE & STONE

HOME

We’re green, too.

Natural stone is not only aesthetically pleasing—it’s also the ultimate in environmentally friendly building materials. The earth itself has done all the hard work in the creation of natural stone.

However, the process of turning slabs of natural stone into stunningly beautiful countertops and appointments does generate waste. In our case, that waste is “kerf,” tiny grains produced when stone is cut or finished. Kerf is to us as sawdust is to a woodworking shop. We use large amounts of water as we cut and finish stone. Left untreated, a mixture of kerf and water would end up in the groundwater.

But we don’t let that happen. Our water-reclamation system removes kerf from our wastewater. Then we use that same water over and over again in our operations. In fact, we only add new water to compensate for evaporation.

This conscientious effort to keep pollutants out of the water supply puts us in the vanguard of companies striving to be eco-friendly. But it’s not just a very sound environmental practice—it’s also the right thing to do.
