The Majesty of Marble & Granite
Come see the beautiful granite and marble kitchens in our showroom!
Granite not only makes a beautiful kitchen countertop, it is also a very practical choice. Granite is one of the hardest naturally occurring materials. A granite countertop will not scratch under everyday use, and it withstands intense heat. Granite is an igneous substance, formed by the solidification of molten rock. It contains mostly feldspar and quartz. The color in a slab of granite comes from minerals and organic matter present when the granite was in its molten state. Marble is a good choice for more decorative applications, such as vanity tops and fireplace surrounds. Its timeless beauty coordinates with all decors, from traditional to contemporary. Marble is a limestone that is crystallized by metamorphism, and ranges from granular to compact in texture. Marble is capable of taking a high polish. Fabricating with granite and marble is an exact art. All measurements and cuts must be done correctly the first time, as there is little room for error. That's why Classic Marble & Stone is very thorough in measuring. When the base cabinets have been installed and the material has been approved by the homeowner, our team takes precise field measurements for the project. These measurements are a critical step for insuring the quality of our work. All information regarding overhangs, rough openings, centerlines, etc. are noted while at the job site. It is important that all cooktops, sinks, and faucet fixtures are on site the day that measurements are made. The measurements are then taken to our plant, where they are transferred to the slabs and cut by a bridge saw or Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) stone machining center using diamond blades. The edges are then milled with the profile selected by the homeowner from samples in our showroom. Edge details may be done either with our straight-line polisher, CNC, or by hand, depending on the detail selected. Sink cutouts for undermount sinks are finished in the plant before the stone is delivered to the job site. Cutouts for drop-in sinks and stoves are scored in the plant and then cut out on site. |
